THE POLARITY PARTY is the result of an unusual collaboration. Dana Caspersen is a dancer and choreographer and globally sought-after conflict researcher, who has been at home on international stages for decades.
THE POLARITY PARTY is a participatory choreographic event examining polarisation. With no dancing. But all of the sensation.
For the MichaelDouglas Collective, polarisation means that we perceive ourselves as separate and think and act in ways that strengthen or reinforce this sense of separateness.
The Polarity Party integrates practices from the fields of both choreography and conflict engagement. The event invites participants into an experience that is both intimate and analytical, using physical action as a way to organize ideas and make thoughts visible.
What role do we play as individuals and communities in the structure of social connections and boundaries? What mechanisms promote or invalidate social polarisation?
